Weir v. Session and Presbytery of San Joaquin v. Presbytery of the Redwoods are two important cases in the ordination of GLBT folks, establishing that orientation and openness are not issues in themselves, and that asking about someone’s sexual practice just because they tell you they’re gay or lesbian is prohibited. A “hunch, gossip, and stereotype” cannot form the basis for special inquiry.
